The Inception of my Personal Practice

A Desire to Challenge Body and Mind

My personal practice didn't just start with a desire to challenge my body; it was about quieting the incessant chatter of my mind. You see, as someone whose thoughts never seem to take a break, the allure of finding stillness and quiet was irresistible.

From Bedroom to Studio: Finding My Path

I started practicing yoga as a young child. But somewhere along the line, life took a turn, and my connection to yoga was temporarily severed. However, the pull of the practice was too strong to resist for long. As I entered my teenage year, I found myself carving out moments on the mat in the confines of my own room. Back then, YouTube workouts weren't as ‘normal’, so my practice truly felt like my own.

At around 18, I made the leap to attend professional yoga classes. Starting with group sessions on my island home of Barbados, I slowly but surely became more confident on the mat. With each practice, I could feel myself sinking deeper into the flow, reconnecting with the essence of yoga.

A Spark of Inspiration: The Journey to Teaching

Then, one day, it happened. The idea struck me like a bolt of lightning: maybe I should teach yoga. With determination and dedication, I embarked on a journey to share my passion with others, igniting sparks of inspiration along the way.

From Bed to Mat: A Daily Ritual

But my practice wasn't confined to my teachings. Oh no, it extended far beyond that. I introduced a ritual I like to call "from bed to mat," starting each day with a wave of gratitude for my practice and my body. Of course, I'm only human, and there are mornings when my practice unfolds at a slower pace. And you know what? That's okay. Each practice, whether it begins at dawn or dusk, is a testament to the flow of life.

Join Me on the Journey

So there you have it, the inception of my personal practice. It's been a wild ride filled with ups, downs, and everything in between. But through it all, yoga has been my constant companion, guiding me through the twists and turns of life.
